COMIC CROSSOVER

DESCRIPTION

Play as Hiro, the protagonist of Dreamers, and venture deeper into the comic universe, visit multiple worlds, encounter anomaly threats and face adversities. Experience playing in a  2D comic-stylized platformer where you travel to the various comic worlds.

ENVIRONMENT & CHARACTER DESIGN

I did the environment, enemy design and animation for the whole of level 2 which also includes the comic strip cut scene. I also used Spriter Pro a 2D sprite animator for all of my animations.

USER INTERFACE DESIGN

Did the in-game UI which includes things like Hiro’s health and the diegetic UI for Hiro’s turret.

CHALLENGES

Problem

Having just joined this development team at from the start of week 15. The current game designers laid out the plans of what is yet to be implemented. I foresee a problem with the scope of the game because the plan was to have a total of five significantly different worlds and they will all be hand drawn frame by frame animation. They only had one artist then.

Solution

After several discussions later regarding lack of manpower I have managed to scale the game down to 3 levels maximum.
 

Due to technical faults with the dream engine, all the assets for level 3 had to be scrapped which I  had even less time to work on level 2. This is where I discussed and helped designed the enemies and mechanics for level 2. Animations for enemies are animated using bones instead to keep up with the tight deadlines.
